Martain Luther king jr.'s life
Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15th, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia with 2 siblings. He had went to "Younge Street Elementary School," and had a friend that lived near him, soon not being able to talk to him anymore due to segregation and the white childs parents no longer allowing him to spend time with Martin.
Later down his years he had gotten married to Coretta Scott on June 18th, 1953. In which he had 4 children, their names being, Yolanda King, Martin Luther King III, Dexter Scott King, and Bernice King. |
Martin was a leader and had lead many nonviolent acts to promote equality. He had been involved in the Montgomery Bus Boycott, in which he organized for Rosa Parks to not get out of her seat when a white person had came to take it. This had ended up leading into Martin's house being bombed.
The Albany Movement, where thousands of people had went for a nonviolent attack to bring equality, which had ended up in many people getting arrested. The Birmingham Campaign, where many mass arrests had occurred to bring a window of opportunity to negotiate for equality. These protests did not result in equality. The March on Washington, which was all leaders banding together to move for peace and have equality with blacks and whites. This movement had lead to the famous speech, "I Had a Dream" (See Media for the entire speech). |
On April 4th, 1968 at 6:01 p.m. Martin Luther King Jr. had been assassinated by James Earl Ray, being shot in his cheek and killed. In his lifetime, he had caused many movements without the use of violence, and had brought the world together and had made it into a better place than he had started in.
